Restaurants
In my travels I always make an effort to try restaurants. I write about what I love and enjoy. I am not a food critic as I write about what I appreciate and cherish. And regardless of the quality of the food, whether the restaurant meets the favor of my personal palette or the customer service experience made me happy, I appreciate the fact that there is someone in that kitchen preparing my food with love. And for that I am grateful. I tend to explore restaurants that can prepare food that I do not excel at in the kitchen. These are the restaurants that I loved on my food/wine journeys. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did.
- Villa Blanca-Beverly Hills This is an incredible restaurant with an amazing location. The menu is Mediterranean with some Asian influence. This is the restaurant of Lisa Vanderpump of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills fame, however this restaurants worthy of praise due to the quality of the food and not just Vanderpump's stardom. The food is fresh, flavorful and incredibly well made. I definitely recommend the Villa Blanca Rose as it is a crisp, refreshing, dry Rose with a hint of a sweet and smooth after taste. This is also a fun place to people watch and the atmosphere is beautiful!
- Grazie-Scottsdale, AZ This was a great thin crust Italian style pizza place near Downtown Scottsdale. They used a wood fired pizza oven and had an impressive Italian wine list. Very fresh ingredients, homemade mozzarella and gluten free options. Great outdoor patio for warm nights as well!
- The Wine Yard Thousand Oaks This is one of my favorite wine spots. They do fun events featuring a specific winery on Thursdays and Saturdays. The owners (Lisa and Stacey) are wonderful and a lot of fun. They have a good mix of hard to find, local and more streamline wines. They always remember the types of wines you like and they make incredible recommendations.
- C'est Cheese (Santa Barbara) This place is like stepping into cheese heaven!! They have cheese varietals from the US, Italy, Ireland and France and they have an assortment of cheeses made with cow, goat and sheep milk. The best part of this place is that you can sample anything and the staff was incredibly helpful and informative. They have an impressive display of meats, olives and a menu that includes some grilled cheese sandwiches that looked incredible. They are in the process of expanding their cafe, but seriously if you are a cheese lover this place is a MUST see!
